Mackenzie began working with Preston Lodge High School in 2024.

She started off her drumming career in 2017 through the North Lanarkshire Schools Pipe Band system when she was 14 years old. She was taught by Steven Nelson and David Henderson. During her time with North Lanarkshire, she notably won the World Championships with the band in 2019, and in 2018, her grade in the World Solo Drumming Championships. Mackenzie has now returned to North Lanarkshire Schools as a tutor for their Novice B Drummers.

After a hiatus due to covid, she made the jump from Novice A to the Grade 1 band, Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia in 2022 and has just recently completed her third season with the band. She has also been a member of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, gaining experience in a concert pipe band, performing innovative music throughout different venues in Scotland.

Most recently, Mackenzie has become an ambassador for the National Piping Centre’s “Maket Collective”, promoting the visibility of women in the Piping and Drumming community.

Mackenzie is about to commence her 4th year of studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on the BMus Traditional Music course, and is very excited to be a part of the Preston Lodge team.
