Tesco – Bags of Help Success. Band receives £2000

The band was successful in receiving £2000 from Tesco recently thanks to everyone’s votes in the ‘Bags of Help Token Scheme’.

A huge thank you goes to Tesco and of course and of our supporters who shopped specifically for those weeks at the Tesco in Musselburgh and voted for us. A huge thank you to you all from everyone involved with the Preston Lodge High School Pipe Bands.

Our Novice band went to Tesco’s in Musselburgh on the 27th if Alril to receive the cheque and also play a few tunes for some very happy Friday shoppers.  This was also a chance for the novice band to try out their brand new waistcoats! They all looked very smart!  All fund raising that’s done goes directly to band funds which helps pay for new uniform, equipment and travel to events and competitions.

Tesco Bags of Help

So far over £27 million has been invested into local projects through Tesco’s Bags of Help token scheme, which lets customers choose where the money raised from the 5p bag charge should go. Customers are given a token at the checkout to use to vote for their favourite of three community projects in each local area. The projects change every other month, and at the end all three projects receive funding in each local area. The amount of funding available for individual local projects ranges from £1,000 to £4,000, and the scheme is administered by Tesco and Groundwork.
