Hi everyone.
The band had a very successful day at the Lothian and Borders RSPBA branch competition on the 24th of March. We won a few prizes in the solo piping and drumming events but the big result of the day was our Novice and Juvenile bands both coming in 1st place in their respective grades!! This is a first for the Preston Lodge Pipe Bands and was a welcome pre-season boost for all of the members and everyone involved with the band! This proves that hard work does pay off and that both bands are very relevant in their grades. We won’t be easing off and are hoping to bring those 2 very strong performances into the outdoor season with the first major championship being the British Championships at Paisley on the 19th of May.
We’ve been working very hard with both bands over the cold Winter and the Cold Spring (minus a few sunny days) as getting both of our bands in top shape and ready for the outdoor competitions beginning with a trip just along the A1 to Dunbar on the 12th of May. We enjoyed a couple of outdoor practice in the sun (whilst it lasted). Hopefully the warm weather comes back as it’s great to get outside and practice. Not so much for the gingers in the band but we always have factor 50 on hand for those in need.
