We had a successful day at the world pipe band championships on the 19th of October, where we had four tenor drummers and one snare drummer take part in the competition. It was a long day with the first competitor Aaron. S playing at 10:36am and our final competitor Kayla. M playing at 4:00pm. All members of the band played well and done themselves, their friends, family and their tutors proud.
We are delighted to announce that we still have a world solo drumming champion in the band after yesterdays results. Kian. B won his event and retains the title as world solo tenor drumming champion and now becomes a 2x world champion. This is a huge achievement considering he is still only in primary school. Well done Kian, we are all extremely proud of you! A full breakdown of results for our competitors can be found below.

This was Aaron’s first time taking part in the older sections playing an MSR. He played well and was happy with his performance. There are things to work on but we are all proud of him for showing great composure, especially for a young drummer playing an MSR in solo competition for the first time.
A huge thank you as ever goes to the friends and family who came and supported the competitors on the day. Without your support the pupils wouldn’t be able to take part, push themselves and reap the many rewards of being involved in a school pipe band.

The unsung heroes of the day are the pipers and snare drummers who played for the competitors on the day. A huge thank you to pipers Cailean. A, Oliver. K and Kirsten. G. We also thank drumming tutor Simon Grant who played for all of the tenor drummers on the day. A great effort by all and we thank you very much.
It may be a solo competition, but it is still very much a team effort. Well done to everyone involved!
