We ran a very successful piping and drumming Easter School during the first week of the school holidays at Loretto school. The school was well attended with 30 snare drummers, 22 pipers and 9 tenor/bass drummers attending the week long event. The week finished with a concert on the final day where friends, family and band supporters came along to see what the pupils had learned during the week.
Below are a selection of videos from the concert. We couldn’t share all of the videos. We hope you enjoy listening to them.
Molly Connell. 2 parted Strathspey played by our novice B pipers and drummers. This is their first effort at playing a strathspey and will set them up well for their eventual move to our novice A band.
Maggie Cameron and Lexy McAskill. This was played by some of our novice A pipers and drummers who were joined by some novice B drummers.
Drummers Fanfare. This was composed by our drumming tutors Simon Grant and Morven Walker. The idea being that we have a fanfare that can be played together by all 3 of the bands.
Crossing the Minch and the Old Wife of the Milldust. This is a hornpipe jig set which will be kept and played as a set for our novice A and juvenile band to hopefully play together.
The Strutting Hornpipe. This set was played for the bass section who had learned this tune during the week. A catchy 4 parted hornpipe.
1st half of the medley. This set was played for the bass section who had learned this set during the week. It is the first 2 tunes from our 2026 medley, Beverly’s Wedding and Donald Willie and his Dog.
We hope you enjoy the videos. All pupils and staff are now off for the rest of the Easter holidays and look forward to hitting the ground running towards the start of the outdoor competitions in May.
Our first outdoor competition will be at Dollar on the 23rd of May. All 3 of our bands will be competing that day.
