He started off his drumming career at the North Lanarkshire Schools Pipe Band when he was 10 years old. During his time with NLSPB, he won many championships in the Novice Juvenile A Grade. Most notable is two world championships (2016, 2019), British Championships (2019) and the European Championships (2019).

Moving on from school, William joined the Grade 1 band, Police Scotland Fife in 2021, where the band enjoyed third place in drumming at most major championships throughout that season.

William was also a player/trainee tutor at the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland for a number of years where he enjoyed taking part in many excellent concerts and showpieces . He more recently became a “Trainee Tutor” with the programme, travelling all over the country teaching at outreach events.

William is currently in his fourth year of studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on the Traditional Music degree and is looking forward to a long career in Snare Drum tuition.
