Stuart begun working with the Preston Lodge Pipe Bands in August 2018.

I started tenor drumming at the age of 13, with the Royal Burgh of Stirling Grade 4b band; under the instruction of my Grandad, John Mckail.

To enhance my skills and progression in tenor drumming, I went to Canada for 2 seasons competing with the Hamilton Police Pipe band Grade 3, under the instruction of my aunty and uncle, Sandy and Stacey Mckail. In 2016 I joined Police Scotland Fife and competed for 2 seasons with them, where i was given the opportunity to play in the Virginia International Tattoo in 2016.

I won the North American Tenor Drumming solos in Canada in 2014, and the tenor drumming solo champion supreme award for both 2014, and 2015. I competed in the International Juvenile Solo Tenor Drumming competition in 2016 where I gained first place! I am now currently assisting the Grade 1 and Grade 3b band at Denny and Dunipace.
