Isla started playing the bagpipes in 2012 gaining most of her piping tuition from her father Jim Stout who, through the Army, introduced her to the competition and traditional styles of piping.
Isla was the first and youngest female Pipe Major of the Army Cadet Force Pipes and Drums where she also sat her PDQB examinations and went on to deliver the qualification syllabus to other cadets.
Isla is now in her 4th and final year on the Traditional Music – Piping Degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
She has delivered both private and group tuition on many different courses and workshops both in the UK and abroad, most recently Havana, Cuba and in 2015, taught the Royal Oman Police Pipe Band.
Isla has competed in both solo and band competitions and was most recently a member of the Grade 1 Scottish Power Pipe Band.
