Eilidh Young grew up in Gosford, Australia surrounded by Scottish Music and Culture. Eilidh learned to play the piano when she was 6 years old, and when she was 13 she decided to teach herself the snare drum.
She joined Northern Suburbs Pipe Band and competed in many solo competitions around the country.
In 2013, Eilidh was awarded a Scholarship from the Big Brother Movement in Australia granting her funding to travel to the UK and further her education in Pipe Band Snare Drumming. Eilidh spent 2 years in Glasgow during which time she took on tuition from some of the best drummers in the world and she was accepted into the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to study Traditional Music. Eilidh was also a member of Wallacestone and District Pipe Band.
Eilidh is now in her 4th Year of the Conservatoire, and currently plays with the Grade 1 Pipe Band Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia. Eilidh loves teaching and is a lover of all things Pipe Bands. She also enjoys playing other percussion and immersing herself in all types of Traditional Music.
